Here’s a nice little review of a show I played last week with the Anita Eccleston Trio.

So I just got back from Ontario yesterday where I was competing in the Canadian Guitar Competition and I am very excited to be able to say that I placed 3rd. The Canadian Guitar Competition is held annually in conjunction with the Canadian Guitar Festival where you can catch some of the finest fingerstyle guitarists performing, hang out on Loughborough Lake and meet tons of other fingerstyle guitar fanatics. Needless to say it was both exciting and nerve racking to compete against many other great players. I would like to thank Del for putting on such a fabulous festival and hosting the competition and also the guys at Erikson Music for donating the prizes. I got to try out my Hagstrom guitar as soon as I got home and I love it. It sounds and plays great so I’m sure it will be a fine addition to my guitar collection, which seems to slowly but surely keep on growing.
On another note I’m well overdue to put up some recordings of more recent compositions that more accurately represent my playing as of now. I’m going to give a shot at the home recording thing so hang tight and hopefully I can figure it out and have some new pieces up on the music page soon. So make sure to check back and feel free to drop me a line on the contact page if you wish, I’m always eager to make new friends.
So Trent and I are a few shows into our BC tour and are looking forward to playing some more shows. You can find where we will be on my Shows page and if we come to a town near you we’d love to see you out there.
On another note I’ve added a TAB page for all you guitar players out there. One of the great things about the internet is it’s potential as an educational resource and as a musician I have learned a ton from all the information that is up on the web. So I in that spirit I figured I would post some of my favourite licks for you guys. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.
Hello people of the internet,
I am going to be playing Poppy Cafe @ Joe’s Apartment (919 Granville St.) on Thursday March 1st. The band is going to feature Stephen Spender on vocals and guitar, Jordan Mann on bass and Nick Stecz on drums. Tickets are $10 in advance and are available through me. If you would like a ticket you can message me via the contact page and I will make sure to get it to you.
Hi all, exciting news, my debut album “The Days Gone By” is up on itunes now. It features Trent Freeman on fiddle as well as vocalist Stephen Spender on a track. Go to http://itunes.apple.com/us/album/the-days-gone-by/id471222831 if you are interested in checking it out.
I got the tracks back for the album and have posted a few samples on the music page. The album will be going in to be pressed soon.
So the website is finally starting to fill with content, which is fantastic! Still more work will be going into it over the next few weeks though, so make sure to check back from time to time for any updates (new photos, shows, video, etc.).
For those of you wondering about the album it looks like the files are finally ready to be mixed and mastered. There were a few bumps along the road but I have my fingers crossed that the tracks will be finished within a couple of weeks. Then all that’s left is to finalize the album design and it will be ready for printing! So if all goes well I’m hoping to have it for sale mid September.
